It has been a while

I just realized that it has been forever that I blogged something "new". Well it doesn't necessarily mean that my life has been boring and nothing exciting has happened since my last entree, but I guess nothing too spectacular for you to read about. I have successfully completed my third term of grad school and two weeks ago started my fourth. Half of my mates are doing internships right now and will start their fourth term in the spring when I might do my internship. My goal this term is to figure out all kinds of things, my thesis, my deepest interests, knit everything I have learned from the past year together - try to make sense, and hopefully get a change and look at things that are currently hot and happening. I am also starting a thesis workshop blog.
Last weekend I was in San Francisco, which was a very inspiring and extremely pleasant due to all my amazing people up there, being reunited with family, the playfulness of the city, and the wind blowing in my face.
-My first time ever on Alcatraz - I liked the audio tour - got me thinking of what else could you do with this island
- Virgin America is a totally new flying experience - allowing you to chat with any passenger on the plane via a little screen in front of you. I didn't do it, but could this be the new cloud no. 9 dating experience... funny.
I am really into IKEA cake right now - the flourless kind - don't buy it, it is devilish!

Semifinal Round - 2008 Adobe Design Achievement Awards

At first I seriously thought this was a joke or a mistake, when I found out that all my entries for the Adobe Design Competition made it into the next round.

1. "Fabric-Interactive", Mobile Design category, a collaboration with Christopher Grant Ward

2. "Tire-Swing", Motion Graphics category (the swing is even more interactive now - press it once the girl stops and the perspective changes. Press it again, the movie replays).

3. "Featherless", Animation category.

whatever... but it is kind of exciting.

Biggest Visual Power Show in LA

Last Saturday, May 17, 8pm the "Visual Power Show" took place at the Million Dollar Theater in down town Los Angeles. I think it was a huge success and everything went smoothly - GREAT - all the hard work payed off. I was helping Mieke Gerritzen with preparations for the show. She is so awesome! I had really great time helping her - I would work for her anytime again!
Things like: ordering tables and chairs for the "speakers/press dinner" before the show, ordering sod for the stage, finding volunteers for the evening and to help set up before, and so on ... I organized a truck for my "grass-guy" , they picked it up and we planted the sod on the theater stage (it was so heavy). After the event we loaded it back on the truck, drove it to "Farmlab" (at midnight) somewhere in Chinatown, and unloaded - what a great bonding experience. Mhhh what else was on the list - oh finding 4 pretty girls, that would accompany Peter Lunenfeld on stage during his speech. They were awesome, and thanks for being suck great sports!
Everyone, thanks for not turning me down when I asked for all of your help!!!!

here are some of the photos I took at the show, or I found on my camera.

Serious Play Workshop - Art Center Design Conference 2008

The Art Center Design Conference 2008 "Serious Play" May 7, 8 and 9, 2008
www2.artcenter.edu/designconference

Ann Field (chair, Illustration Department, Art Center) was giving a workshop on Thursday "Idol Maker: Collage as Portraiture - Come to a portrait-making session that alters your perceptions of what a portrait can be. Using collage techniques and everyday materials, create a spontaneous portrait under the direction of Ann Field, whose name has been synonymous with contemporary illustration and award-winning, innovative images for over 20 years."
I was helping Ann Field with her workshop at the conference - organizing some of the materials, setting up at the event, and taking photos.
